Research on 6G began around 2019, and since then, the world has changed dramatically. The war in Europe, intensified geopolitical polarization, and new technological trends such as generative AI were unforeseen in 2019 but are now significantly influencing expectations for 6G.
At the same time, 2025 marked the beginning of the actual 6G standardization process, with initial decisions being made about how 6G will serve as the backbone of our future highly connected, digitized society. The Berlin 6G Conference 2026 aims to provide guidance in this context by bringing together international experts from various fields.
What can citizens expect from 6G?
How will our world change through 6G?
How can 6G help us achieve our sustainability goals?
What contribution can 6G make to the protection of our critical infrastructures?
What is the current status of standardization?
What has already been decided, and what can we expect?
What contributions can Germany and Europe make to the success of 6G?
As in previous years, an extensive demonstration program covering 750 m² will accompany the conference.

The Berlin 6G Conference 2025 once again grew in size, welcoming 900 participants and offering 1,000 m² of exhibition space and 55 sessions. Other highlights of this networking event included an opening speech by State Secretary Jungk of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and a sixth German-Japanese workshop, which culminated in the signing of a cooperation agreement between the 6G platform and XGMF. The 6G platform also attracted many high-profile speakers from industry, research and politics this year. The participation of 16 nations and the kick-off meeting of the EU project SUSTAINET emphasise the 6G platform’s networking with 6G projects outside Germany.
